Young learners become familiar with numbers up to 50 by the time they reach Junior K.G. They begin to identify the numbers by their shapes and learn the names of the numbers. They can recognise which numbers are greater, less than or equal to. Through observation of their surroundings, they learn which objects are big, small, tall, short, wide, narrow, heavy or light. Identifying sizes and shapes is also an important mathematical skill. It is often through practical examples that children learn best. Indian Talent Olympiad’s Little Champs Maths Olympiad Book includes fun and engaging questions to evaluate the young learners’ math skills.
