OLYMPIAD RANKING

The Ranking of the students is a mathematical analysis of their academic scores compared to the scores of other students. The Ranking for Olympiad exams are determined considering the scores of both the rounds. The scores are the converted into ranks and is determined by the grading system. Student is eligible to perceive rank when he/she fits into the ranking criteria.

CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION FOR SCHOOL THROUGH REGISTERED

OFFLINE EXAM
Students fulfilling any one of the following two criteria will be eligible to qualify for Round 2 of the Indian Talent Olympiad
  • The top 20% of students from each class appearing for the Level 1 examination will qualify, with due consideration given to the marks scored in different sections.
  • Class Topper: A student will be considered a Class Topper if at least 10 students from the class appear for the exam and the student scores a minimum of 60% marks. In case of section-wise registrations, Class Toppers will be selected from each section where the participation exceeds 25 students.

The Level 2 examination will be conducted for Science, Mathematics, English, and General Knowledge for students from Classes 1 to 10.

In case two or more students secure the same total marks, ranks will be determined based on higher scores obtained in sections assigned greater priority. If the scores remain identical, the marks of questions carrying internal weightage will be considered.

ROUND 2 OFFLINE EXAM
Criteria:
Final ranks will be based on the Round 2. In case two or more students score same number of marks, ranks will be determined on following criteria:
1.    Marks scored in sections in level two exam accorded higher priority.
2.    Total marks scored in Level one exam.
3.    Marks scored in HOT’s (High Order Thinking) section given the priority in both the rounds.
4.    Marks scored in different sections, in level one exam, accorded higher priority.
5.    If in case of tie, students’ previous standard score, the marking on OMR, number of correct answers, wrong answers, and negative marks for wrong answers will be considered.
6.    In case two or more students score same marks under all the categories above, they will be awarded the same rank & scholarship amount will be shared among students.

If students continue to have identical scores across all sections and criteria, they will be awarded the same rank, and the scholarship amount will be equally distributed among them.

RANKING TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR OFFLINE EXAMS:
  • The queries related to Question Papers, OMR Answer sheet re-checking & marks re-evaluation will be entertained within only 20 days after the result is declared. Indian Talent Olympiad will not entertain any such queries after the same.
  • Indian Talent Olympiad will discard the previous rounds' OMR answer sheets after one month (30 days) since the result is declared, according to the company policies. If the OMR answer sheets' soft copy is required, the school has to request the same within 20 days of the result being declared.
NOTE:
  • The re-checking or re-evaluation process is chargeable at Rs. 500/- per subject per OMR (First Round only)*.
  • Providing the OMR answer sheet soft copy, re-checking, and re-evaluation are permitted for the first round only.
  • In the second round, only a few thousand students are selected, and their OMR answer sheets are scanned twice in the OMR machine to eliminate any possibility of error. Therefore, answer sheets will not be scanned again for re-checking or re-evaluation, nor will the soft copy be provided. Any queries regarding these will not be entertained.
  • Students achieving a perfect score in both rounds qualify for National Rank 1, with a maximum of 8 toppers considered. If more than 8 students secure full marks, the prize amount will be shared equally, and the number of toppers may vary according to the score pattern.
  • If fewer than 8 students achieve a perfect score, the National Rank 1 award will be given to students with the highest combined scores from both rounds, with preference given to performance in Round 2. In this case, the final selection of 2 to 8 toppers will be determined based on the organization’s discretion.
  • ITO is not liable to provide internal marking details, as it is a confidential evaluation process.

CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION FOR STUDENTS - ONLINE EXAM EVALUATION CRITERIA

CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION - ROUND 1 ONLINE EXAM
Students qualifying in ROUND 1 by scoring 50% or more will be selected for ROUND 2 Exam.
1.    Top 20% of the participating students will be qualified for the ROUND 2 Exam.
2.    Scores and time taken to complete the exam will be recorded by the system.

EXAM EVALUATION CRITERIA FOR INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS
ROUND 2 ONLINE EXAM

1.    Individual rankings are calculated by the system according to the total score of the candidate in an online exam.
2.    In any occurrence of a tie, the student who submitted the test in the shortest time frame will be ranked higher.
3.    As a tie-breaker, negative marking (0.25) will be used and the marks scored in each sections will be accorded higher priority.
4.    If in case of tie again, Round -1 score will be considered.
5.    If two or more students receive the same score on the above criteria, they will be allotted the same rank.
6.    For tough ties, ITO has provided some questions internal marking ratio. In a very close call, the same ratio will be applicable in evaluation.
7.    Number of attempted questions, wrong answers, negative marks to the wrong answers, completing the exam at first attempt, image captured, and voice recorded, along with all the above points will be considered before allotting the ranks.

RANKING TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR ONLINE EXAM:
(Individual Participation)
  • After completion of ROUND 1 exams, results will be announced with the marks secured in each subject. Since, marks/scores are evaluated automatically by the system, no revaluation is done for online exam.
  • Only final ranks will be shown in the results after completion of ROUND 2 exams.
  • In case two or more students score the same marks under all the categories above, they will be awarded the same rank & the scholarship amount will be shared among students.

NOTE:

1. According to the Indian Talent Olympiad Policies, the scholarship amount of National Rank 1 & National Rank 2 winners is divided into certain years. The divided scholarship amount will be provided to the scholarship winner till the limit of the scholarship amount's extent.
2. The National Scholarship is aimed to provide Educational Benefits to extraordinary performing students. Hence, the Indian Talent Olympiad Management has set policies to split the National Rank Scholarships in certain years.

**Indian Talent decision is final for the ranks allotted to the students in offline and online method. No queries regarding the same will be entertained.

FAQ
WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA FOR RANKING?
Students are awarded national ranks, state ranks and school level ranks respectively. Some of the criterion that decides the rank are the total score and the time taken to attempt the exam. Students who complete the test in the shortest time possible are awarded exciting prizes. If there are two or more participants with the same score, then the rank will be judged on two criteria. The first being, the maximum number of correct answers given, the shortest time is taken, the number of incorrect answers, and the total number of correct questions. Students who achieve National Rank 1 are awarded a cash prize of 1,00,000 Rs. Students with National Rank 2 are awarded a cash prize of 40,000 Rs. 10 Students with National Rank 3 are awarded Rs. 20,000. 100 Students with National Rank 4 are awarded Rs.6000. Those achieving State Ranks between 1 to 10 are awarded scholarships. Excellence Medal Award is given to those who participate through school and rank between State Rank 11 to 25. Best Performer Title is given to those who participate individually (Online Exam) and rank between State Rank 11 to 100.
