Olympiad Ranking

The ranking of students is a mathematical analysis of their academic scores compared to those of other students. The ranking for Olympiad exams is determined based on scores from both rounds, which are then converted into ranks according to the grading system. A student is eligible to receive a rank when he or she meets the ranking criteria.

Indian Talent Olympiad conducts Olympiad Exams in Offline mode for schools through registered students and in online mode for individually participating students. Ranking Criteria for the school, based on registered and individually registered students, will differ.

Offline Exam

Round 1 Offline Exam - Criteria for Qualification

Students fulfilling any one of the following two criteria will be eligible to qualify for Round 2 of the Indian Talent Olympiad.

  1. Students scoring a minimum of 60% marks and ranking among the top 20% of participants from each class in the Round 1 examination will qualify for Round 2, with due consideration given to the marks obtained in different sections.
  2. If the student is a Class Topper

A student will be considered a Class Topper if at least 10 students from the class appear for the exam, and the student. For section-wise registrations, Class Toppers will be selected from each section with more than 25 participants.

The Round 2 examination will be conducted for Science, Mathematics, English, and General Knowledge for students from Classes 1 to 10.


Round 2 Offline Exam Evaluation Criteria

  1. Final ranks will be based on Round 2. In case two or more students score the same number of marks, ranks will be determined on the following criteria:
  2. Marks scored in sections in the Round Two exam are accorded higher priority.
  3. Total marks scored in the Round One exam.
    Marks scored in HOT’s (High Order Thinking) section are given priority in both rounds.
  4. Marks scored in different sections in the Round One exam are accorded higher priority.
  5. In the case of a tie, students’ previous standard score, the marking on OMR, the number of correct answers, wrong answers, and negative marks for wrong answers will be considered.
  6. If the scores remain identical, the marks of questions carrying internal weightage will be considered.
    If students continue to have identical scores across all sections and criteria, they will be awarded the same rank, and the scholarship amount will be equally distributed among them.
  7. In case two or more students secure the same total marks, ranks will be determined based on the higher scores obtained in sections assigned greater priority.

Ranking Terms & Conditions For Offline Exams:

  1. The queries related to Question Papers, OMR Answer sheet re-checking & marks re-evaluation will be entertained within only 20 days after the result is declared. Indian Talent Olympiad will not entertain any such queries after the same.
  2. Indian Talent Olympiad will discard the previous rounds' OMR answer sheets after one month (30 days) since the result is declared, according to the company policies. If the OMR answer sheets' soft copy is required, the school has to request the same within 20 days of the result being declared.

Important Note:

  1. The re-checking or re-evaluation process is chargeable at Rs. 500/- per subject per OMR (First Round only)*.
  2. Providing the OMR answer sheet soft copy, re-checking, and re-evaluation are permitted for the first round only.
  3. In the second round, only a few thousand students are selected, and their OMR answer sheets are scanned twice in the OMR machine to eliminate any possibility of error. Therefore, answer sheets will not be scanned again for re-checking or re-evaluation, nor will the soft copy be provided. Any queries regarding these will not be entertained.
  4. Students achieving a perfect score in both rounds qualify for National Rank 1, with a maximum of 8 toppers considered. If more than 8 students secure full marks, the prize amount will be shared equally, and the number of toppers may vary according to the score pattern.
  5. If fewer than 8 students achieve a perfect score, the National Rank 1 award will be given to students with the highest combined scores from both rounds, with preference given to performance in Round 2. In this case, the final selection of 2 to 8 toppers will be determined based on the organization’s discretion.
  6. According to the policies of the Indian Talent Olympiad, the scholarship amount awarded to National Rank 1 and National Rank 2 winners may be distributed over a specified period of time. The scholarship will be provided to the winners in installments until the complete scholarship amount is disbursed.

ITO is not liable to provide internal marking details, as it is a confidential evaluation process.


Online Exam

Round 1 Online Exam - Criteria for Qualification Individual Registration

Students fulfilling any one of the following two criteria will be eligible to qualify for Round 2 of the Indian Talent Olympiad.

  1. Students scoring a minimum of 50% marks in the Round 1 examination will be considered for the Round 2 qualification.
  2. Student ranking among the top 20% participants of each class, along with performance in different exam sections.

Round 2 Online Exam Evaluation Criteria

In case two or more students secure the same marks, ranks will be determined based on the following criteria in order of priority:

  1. Higher marks scored in Level 2 exam sections will be given preference.
  2. Total marks obtained in the Level 1 exam will be considered.
  3. Higher scores in the HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) section in both rounds will be given priority.
  4. Marks obtained in different sections of the Level 1 exam will also be considered.
  5. Students completing the exam in less time may receive higher priority.
  6. If required, negative marking (0.25 marks) may be applied as a tie-breaker.
  7. Additional evaluation factors such as time taken, number of attempted questions, incorrect answers, negative marks, first attempt completion, image capture, voice recording, and first-round scores may also be considered.
  8. In closely tied situations, internal marking ratios and evaluation parameters defined by ITO will be applied for final rank determination.
  9. Ranks are finalized based on a comprehensive evaluation process to ensure fair and accurate assessment of student performance.

Ranking Terms & Conditions For Online Exams:

  1. Only ranks will be displayed in the results. Percentage, pass, or fail status is not applicable for Olympiad exams.
  2. In case two or more students secure the same marks, ranks will be determined based on the prescribed tie-breaking criteria.
  3. If students continue to have the same score after all evaluation parameters are applied, they will be awarded the same rank.
  4. In such cases, the scholarship amount, wherever applicable, will be equally shared among the students.

Important Note:

  1. After the completion of online exams, results are declared based on the marks secured in each subject. Since online exam scores are automatically evaluated and verified through a secure system-based process, revaluation or manual rechecking is not applicable for online exams.
  2. Only the final ranks will be displayed in the results after the completion of Round 2 examinations.
  3. The organization reserves the right to finalize ranks, awards, and scholarship distribution based on the overall performance pattern.
  4. Internal marking methodology and evaluation parameters are confidential and will not be disclosed.
